Precious Ndubisi on Lila Abu- Lughood's Do Muslim women still need saving

In Lila Abu-Lughod do Muslim women still need saving. She commented on why burqa is something that should be worn with confidence, Joy and pride but instead it is seen as something that is obsessive and disturbing today’s world. The whole idea of bursa is misinterpreted into something else.
The issue regarding do Muslim women still need saving rocks me to the core. Because truth been told they actually do need saving. My best friend took off her burqa because she doesn’t Imagine the current president bringing such harmful comments towards the Muslim and how the world might have a view of them differently. Literally burqa is just a piece of cloth that has significant meaning to someone.

Religion is something sacred and shouldn’t be something an individual should be scared or wouldn’t be able to show off or be proud of. So I don’t know why anyone should feel a certain way towards it. Ever since trumps America, some women have felt the need of not to wear their burqa. Like I mentioned earlier my best friend stopped wearing her hijab because she didn’t feel safe. See this women are worried about their lives just like the Muslim women in Afghanistan who should wear their burqa because they’re housewives.

Another big issue concerning the burqa is that social media puts it out as a fashion but not the meaning behind it The social media today talks about how burqa are now used  for fashion not for the intent meaning. But this shouldn’t be right because there’s a meaning to that burqa.

Some of the issues on the news disturbs me because Trumps America is taking over and Muslim women fear for their safety. It’s sad that in 2017 things like this are still a problem.
Like why so much hate. This is not a matter of religious choice, or religious  it's the duty of each of us to ensure and protect the same rights for others not minding their religion or social background.
Below is a link that shows how Muslim reacts to the way they are seen wearing burqa ( hijab)

Why do women in Afghanistan have to be characterized by wearing burqa?
