Bridget Wallen responding to Naomi Klein Chaper One

Klein elaborates on her experience and beliefs about the election of Donald Trump as President. She explains what she exactly what she was doing the day he won, and why it gives her a feeling that there is something important to learn from it. We can not play defense, we need to take a stand against specifc rights we support and simultaneously fight on ofense.
I think we all can agree alot of people were upset when President Trumped got elected, I agree with the author, Klein, that his presidency has unleashed acts of racism, violence, and oppression. It is sad to think that people are afraid to fight for what they think is right, because of the attacks from Trump. What Klein points out is that we cannot give up on fighting for things like, climate action, racial justice, decent jobs, and more. It is the citizen's job to make the changes we need regardless of the obstacles that may come along. Just because the election shook so many people up, and scared them doesn't mean we can forget about what is really important. Klein states that fighting for what is right is not going to be easy, but it is what this country needs in order to avoid repeating bad patterns from the past.
Klein makes it obvious that Donald Trump revolves around money and he even has wealthy cabinet members to keep the chain going. Trump has collected a group of individuals who have made their profits off of the suffering of others. If this doesn't reflect on Trump as a person, than I dont know what does. Before the election, people were standing up for many injustices created by these industries his cabinet members are a part of. But now, Klein expresses how these people were starting to win, but after the election it almost all came to a complete hault. What Klein doesn't understand is why stop, continue to fight or this will become a dangerous place.
Throughout this chapter, Klein brings up climate change many of times, and that is a problem that Donald Trump refuses to believe in. But, just because he does not aknowledge climate change as a problem, does not mean that is doesn't exist and doesn't mean that it will all of a sudden disappear. In the HuffPost Blog a man named Captain Paul Watson writes an article about how fighting Trump on Climate Change is a waste of time. Unfortunately, Watson is right. Trump is never going to change his mind on the idea of climate change, so agreeing with Klein, we need to fix the problem and ignore Trump in the process. We should make it our goal to help our country by fixing real problems that are ignored, regardless of the opinion of our President. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/paul-watson/why-fighting-donald-trump_b_12951212.html
Wouldn't more people want to fight because of the Trump election, not give up? You would think because people are so angry, and disagreeing with his decisions that that would give them a reason to stand up for themselves and their own beliefs.
